Why become an LKP-accredited managing agent?
There are plenty of trade bodies, and we have no ambition to be another. But if you seek business from self-governing or enfranchised leaseholders, there is a fair chance the directors will be in touch with LKP. Leaseholders have the overwhelming financial stake in a building – the freehold being worth often only 1-3% of a block – and they should be making the decisions. Just as flat owners do everywhere else in the world, except England and Wales. To be accredited, your firm would have to share the ethos of the Leasehold Knowledge Partnership for fairness and straight-dealing
The accreditation document has been updated and will continue to evolve to take into account legislative and regulatory changes, and court decisions.
It is not a test with a 100 per cent pass mark, but it will provide an understanding of your approach to property management.
As a registered charity (no: 1162584), LKP’s role in accrediting leasehold managing agents in a good governance scheme is recognised by the Charity Commission.
LPK’s accreditation fees can be paid for in the form of tax-efficient donations.
