LKP meets shadow housing minister Emma Reynolds

April 29, 2014 By admin

LKP met shadow housing minister Emma Reynolds yesterday to discuss problems in the leasehold sector. The meeting was organised by Jim Fitzpatrick, the Labour MP for Poplar and Limehouse, who has some of the richest and poorest leaseholders in the country in his constituency. He has become a firm stalwart in fighting for leaseholders.

Whistleblowers to Serious Fraud Office ‘wasting their time’

Bad news for LKP, our MP patrons, and anyone else who cares about the Sisyphean labour of trying to encourage integrity and honesty in our corporate governance. The law firm Pinsent Masons has found that 2,500 whistleblowers approached the Serious Fraud Office, but that only resulted in a dozen investigations, the Times reports today. No […]

Viscount Astor hears the lamentations of leaseholders

Viscount Astor, step-father of Samantha Cameron and father of ground rent investor William Waldorf Astor, attended the All-Party Parliamentary Group meeting on leasehold reform on December 14. Sadly, he did not share his thoughts at the meeting, as he heard how unaffluent first-timer buyers are upset with doubling ground rents in Bolton. Or, how lawyers […]

Guardian reports misery of leasehold home owners trapped by John Lewis Partnership Pension Trust – and the Mail, Sun, Mirror and Lad Bible (any we have missed?)

UPDATE: for reasons that are a mystery to LKP, this story has now become widespread: Mail, Mirror, Sun (below). All are copies of the Guardian article, which may itself be from the Cambridge Evening News. It may be a case of the age of national newspaper website journalists which explains why this one took off […]

Taylor Wimpey abandons the leasehold houses racket from January 1

Taylor Wimpey has undertaken to cease building revenue generating leasehold houses from January 1. The announcement comes in a letter to LKP MP patrons Jim Fitzpatrick and Sir Peter Bottomley, and was made before the All Party Parliamentary Group meeting last Wednesday. Taylor Wimpey says that it sold leasehold houses in the North West, a […]
