Full marks to Rynew for holding awards for people who have actually helped leaseholders. Well, it’s a novelty!

March 16, 2018 By admin 1 Comment

Rynew property management in all its glory, with founders Daren Touhey and Desmond Moreira (third and fourth left)

LKP-accredited managing agent Rynew last week held its own awards for contractors who are employed on leasehold-controlled blocks.

This is a wonderful departure from the leasehold sector norm where awards are doled out wholesale a la Robert Mugabe to some of the most surprising winners.

Such as this low episode: https://www.leaseholdknowledge.com/managing-agent-benjamin-mire-sacked-judicial-appointment-company-still-string-insiders-property-awards

Rynew is a highly esteemed managing agent in East London, run by Desmond Moreira and Daren Touhey, which has been resolving numerous build defect issues in new build properties.

Indeed, last year they took over the management of Mulberry Mews in Islington, where Roger Southam, the chairman of the Leasehold Advisory Service, was embedded as the manager via his company Chainbow. More here ad nauseam: https://www.leaseholdknowledge.com/?s=mulberry

That issue was resolved, and the leaseholders now control the site via an RMC.

Rynew was appointed because of its expertise in dealing with build defect issues.

Anyway, here are Rynew’s awards to its contractors which may be of use to other sites:

Ed Ellis, Partner of the Year

Ed Ellis, chartered builder

“Ed is chartered builder at http://www.webellis.com/.

“Ed Ellis has been an invaluable partner to Rynew over the years and has been instrumental in helping our clients tackle complicated building defects. ‘Ed’ as he known to many has helped some of clients tackle major building defects by identifying trends and issues unknown to the naked eye. He has reported on several new build projects and been instrumental in dealing with the NHBC, large House builders and holding them to account in respect of building standards.

“Ed single handedly helped a client (Images, East London) save £25 million by getting the builder back to site to carry out the works.

“But the feedback from clients and other professionals that we have engaged on these projects, is always good, and we always receive nothing but praise for his work and attention to detail. Highly respected by many professionals that have the pleasure of working with him, as do Rynew.”

Louis Belizaire-Poole, Contractor of the Year

Louis Belizaire-Poole

“Louis and his firm AC Test www.actest.co.uk – slogan: “you should leave your electrical cares with us …” continually receive outstanding feedback from our clients.

That’s not only for the incredible work and service they provide but how genuinely pleasant and helpful they are.

“Louis is one of the nicest men I have met, and it was our pleasure to present him with this award, for his dedication, hard work and commitment to servicing our clients.

“(Even on the night I had people coming up to me telling me what a gentlemen he is).”

Simon Foster, chair Rainbow Quay Residents’ Company, Client of the Year

Simon Foster, chair of RMC at Rainbow Quay

“Our clients are the life blood of our business and help us deliver better services by pushing us to do better.

“Simon Forster who is the Chairman of Rainbow Quay (144 flats), is instrumental in helping us manage this site. His dedication to help his fellow leaseholders by managing the many issues that arise deserves high recognition.

“We throughly enjoy working with our clients, and this partnership has been a pleasure. Thank you, Simon and Rainbow Quay for giving us the chance to work with you.”

Amy Rowe, Rynew Property Manager

Amy Rowe

“This is always hard, as we value all our staff and the tremendous effort they put in to make Rynew work.

“But this year without a doubt this, we had to give this accolade to Amy Rowe.

“She has been at the heart of all the good that we do as a business despite some challenging times, this never altered her delivery or commitment to service delivery. Both liked and valued by her colleagues, not to mention the feedback we have received from our customers.

“As a result of Amy’s contribution in 2017 we have promoted her to Property Manager, and I am sure you will be hearing and seeing more of Amy in 2018.

“Thank you for all of your hard work!”

LKP Managing Agents

Big managing agents are big because they have got business from developers or large-scale freehold owing companies. Doubtless they are very obliging.

Not a single one is big through consumer choice.

Managing agents accredited to LKP want business from leaseholders. Many are former leaseholders.

All have signed undertakings of good practice and have provided extensive references … from leaseholders.

They can also hand-hold leaseholders through right to manage at minimal cost.

I notice that Rynew are accredited by LKP and are members of ARMA. They are a credit to both organisations.
On the subject of ARMA I notice that on their Twitter they are encouraging us to hear Their CEO’s speech at the Leasehold 2018 Conference.. That is to spend £325 to hear him speak on the subject of Leaseholders apathy.
Back to putting the onus on Leaseholders again, he reminds me of Roger Southern.
Fortunately both LKP and the National Leasehold Campaign are now making us very much aware.
A much more interesting speech could be made on the apathy of other parties such as ARHM , ARMA, LEASE, the Dept of Local Gov and Communities and the Government.. With both ARHM and ARMAbeing basically Trade Organisations being apathetic has suited them. Very little or no action has been taken to penalise members who break the rules and they still say they are unable to take action on Leaseholders complaints
