Nigel Glen, the former chief executive of ARMA and current non-executive director of FirstPort owner Emeria, has become the mouthpiece of punters in the residential freehold game.
He is now “special advisor” to the Residential Freehold Association – translation: lobbyist – which represents the freehold owning interests of investors such as hedge-funder Count Luca Rinaldo Contardo Padulli of Wallace Estates; William Waldorf Astor, of Long Harbour, Vincent Tchenguiz, of the Tchenguiz Family Trust; Nicholas and Peter Gould, of Regis Group; and many, many more.
The announcement today follows Mr Glen’s earlier decision to abandon the newly formed Property Institute – an amalgamation of the Association of Residential Managing Agents and the Institute of Residential Property Management (IRPM) – in order to join FirstPort as a consultant.
So the largest property manager in the country – still hugely dependent on the Tchenguiz freehold portfolio – neatly links up with the freehold lobby.
One can anticipate lots of briefings on leaseholder iniquity; inability to run anything; fag-packet data on strata titles failings in Australia etc … and the vital societal need for professional property owners (even when entirely anonymous and based offshore).
Curiously enough when head of ARMA, Mr Glen went out of his way to say how agnostic he was on the subject of commonhold tenure – repeatedly stating that property managers “have no skin in the game”.
Well, he certainly does now.

I am surprised that Nigel Glen has become the mouthpiece for anyone.
I am still awaiting a reply from him to my many e.mails asking what his proposals are to improve the performance of Firstport following his recent appointment with Emeria.

Michael,
I emailed Mr Philippe Salle CEO of Emeria several Weeks ago, his office redirected my email to Firstport who insisted that I amend my “Trustpilot” post and to remove Mr Salle contact details which I did. I then redirected those that read my reviews to Leaseholder Knowledge Partnership and in particular the article written by Mr O’Kelly, Mr Salle details are shown in the Leave a Reply comment box, along with other useful information contributed by Mr Boyd.
I make the assumption that Firstport do not want their paying customers knowing who the CEO of the parent Company is and what his contact details are which I find ridiculous.
Wishing you the very best of luck I hope you achieve your objective.
