The problems faced by new build leasehold owners is covered again tonight on ITV
“For many people, buying a brand new home is the realisation of a long-held dream, but complaints about poorly-built houses and controversial leasehold contracts are on the rise. Jonathan Maitland investigates why some dream homes are turning out to be anything but. ”
The programme examines leasehold issues after covering a dismal catalogue of build defect concerns.
It is notable as it is the first time the House Builders’ Federation have attempted to address the leasehold scandals in new build.
It featured the demonstration in March outside a Redrow site of leasehold houses in Ellesmere Port organised by the National Leasehold Campaign.

Well, we already knew Taylor Wimpey sell leasehold houses with horrendous ground rents.
Now the programme has confirmed that Taylor Wimpey also build houses of zero quality and full of major defects.
Typical ducking and diving from the House Builders Federation (Steve) when asked what he thought about doubling ground rents.
Pity he could not speak the obvious truth, but what do you expect from another “club for the boys”.
Pleased the programme was on, should help spread the word about these disgraceful companies.
Pity it’s not on twice a week at same time.
