Communities Secretary Said Javid to ban leasehold houses and future ground rents are to be set to zero. The lucrative lease extension and enfranchisement process is referred to the Law Commission, which is also to consider commonhold as an alternative residential tenure for flats and leasehold houses in England and Wales.
